Our Sustainability report 2025

What drives us and where we are headed

At Silvester Group, we have been helping companies make complex topics transparent and communicate sustainability and financial information in an accessible way for many years. That makes it all the more important for us to take a close look at our own development, too.

With its 2025 Sustainability Report, prepared by Till Wippermann with the fantastic support of his team, VERSO Group has published its second voluntary sustainability report. It shows where we have made progress as a group, where there is still work to be done – and just how much the past year was shaped by change.

This year’s report is once again based on EFRAG’s voluntary VSME standard. What is new is that, as part of a Group-wide double materiality assessment, we systematically identified for the first time which sustainability topics are particularly relevant to us – and derived concrete targets and measures from the results.

where we have the greatest impact

As a consulting and technology group, our direct environmental footprint is comparatively small. A significant share of our potential sustainability impact therefore lies in the work we do with our clients.

Through our wide range of consulting services, we at Silvester Group help companies not only collect ESG data for reporting purposes, but also use it as a robust basis for strategic decision-making.

Another dimension is equally important to us: sustainability performance must not only be managed strategically, but also communicated in a way that is clear, transparent and credible. This is exactly where VERSO Group’s strategy, consulting and software expertise come together – from establishing a reliable data foundation and ensuring regulatory-compliant reporting to compelling design and target-group-specific communication.

our material topics

This year, we once again wanted to hold ourselves to the same methodological standards that we apply when advising our clients. That is why, in 2025, we conducted a Group-wide double materiality assessment for the first time. Using our own Materiality Module, we systematically assessed relevant impacts, risks and opportunities and used the results to derive targets and measures. Going forward, the material topics identified are to be reviewed annually and adjusted where necessary.

our biggest challenge in 2025

A sustainability report should also provide transparency about change – and 2025 was a year of strategic realignment for us as a group. The EU’s Omnibus I package significantly changed the sustainability market and led to a noticeable decline in projects driven by regulatory requirements.

In response, the Group’s management team refocused our business model, portfolio and organisation more strongly on the tangible business value of sustainability – including improved ESG data management, product carbon footprints, climate risk assessments and systematic supply chain risk management.

our key takeaway: less regulation does not mean less sustainability

Perhaps one of our most important takeaways from 2025 is this: the regulatory environment may be changing, but the underlying business challenges remain.

Climate risks do not disappear simply because reporting requirements are reduced. Clients and investors continue to demand reliable ESG information. Companies still need to understand their supply chains, manage emissions and identify sustainability risks. The difference is that sustainability will increasingly need to demonstrate its value within the core business.

This is also the rationale behind our strategic realignment. Sustainability should be seen less as a regulatory obligation and more as a tool for risk management, resilience and long-term value creation.

our next steps

We have also set ourselves a number of internal goals. By the end of 2026, these include developing a company-wide sustainability strategy and a Code of Conduct. We also plan to introduce standardised data protection guidelines that cover AI-related topics and extend data protection certification to all software products by 2027.

Above all, then, the 2025 report is a snapshot of where we stand today – not the end of the journey.
